Time-to-Fix: From Report to Resolution

Time-to-fix measures the elapsed time between when a bug is reported and when its fix is verified. It’s the single most revealing metric for your entire pipeline because it exposes bottlenecks that no other number captures — slow triage, unclear reproduction steps, overloaded developers, or sluggish verification.

The key is to break this metric into segments. Total time-to-fix hides where the problem actually lives. A bug might sit in triage for three days, get assigned and fixed in two hours, then wait another week for verification. Without segmented data, you’d never know that your verification step is the bottleneck.
